Ask Before Buying
Both. Most parents end up buying a bottle warmer and sterilizer separately, which means two appliances, two plug points and two things to clean. PortaPure does both jobs: 100°C steam sterilisation for bottles and pump parts, plus warming to a target temperature you can see on the display. It also thaws stored breast milk at a controlled 55°C, keeps water warm between feeds, steams baby food and heats meals.
As a feeder bottle sterilizer the chamber takes up to 4 bottles upright, or 2 bottles and a complete breast pump set. It suits standard and wide-neck feeder bottles, teats, collars, pacifiers, flanges, valves, membranes and connectors. If you use a brand you are unsure about, message us on WhatsApp with the model and we will check it for you.
Water in the base is heated until it turns to steam, which fills the sealed chamber and reaches every surface, including the inside of a narrow bottle neck. Steam sterilisation needs nothing but water, so there are no tablets to buy and no chemical residue to rinse away. The cycle holds at 100°C and shuts off by itself.
It is designed as an infant bottle sterilizer for newborn feeding from the first day, and the same chamber later handles a milk bottle steriliser load, baby food steaming and toddler meals.

Higher settings are used for thawing frozen milk gradually and for the sterilize cycle, not for the feed itself.
The keep warm function holds water at your chosen temperature so the next bottle is quicker to prepare. It is not a way to keep prepared milk warm: use a made-up feed within the time your paediatrician advises.
Any bottle steam sterilizer will if it is never descaled. Use filtered water where you can and run a short descaling cycle every few weeks, more often in hard-water cities. The full routine is on the care card in the box and in the Care & Cleaning section above.
If the water does run out mid-cycle, anti-dry-burn protection cuts the heat automatically.
